2010 Prime Minister's Awards

On October 5, 2011, the Honourable Peter Van Loan, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, presented a 2010–11 Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence to Sean Clark, teacher at Sacred Heart High School in Stitsville, ON, for using space to teach science and technology. Canadian Astronaut Robert Thirsk presented Mr. Clark with a pin that flew with him in space during Expedition 20/21, a long-duration mission to the International Space Station.

Star Count Information

Star Count

The Star Count project is designed as part of an international scientific study to investigate the visual quality of the nighttime sky and to help assess the national and global extent of atmospheric light pollution. It will also help to evaluate the amount of energy wasted through poor or inappropriate lighting practices.

Teachers, students, youth organizations amateur astronomers, science and environmental organizations, and dedicated interested individuals, are all invited to participate.
