  2. The approximate time for completion is 15-30 minutes.

Symmetry Art

Materials:

  • scissors
  • paper
  • drawing/colouring tools
  • glue stick

Procedure:

  1. Examine the illustrations. Find one that has a line of symmetry, either horizontal or vertical.

  2. Cut the picture out. Carefully cut it across where you think it has a line of symmetry.

  3. Glue half the picture onto a piece of paper. Leave enough room for the picture to be completed.

  4. Give the glued half to a partner. Do not show him/her the other piece you cut off.

  5. Your partner completes the missing side by drawing in everything that should appear on the other side of the line of symmetry.

  6. When done, compare the drawing to the half that was cut off.

Questions:

Explain how you completed the illustration:

What clues did you use?
What difficulties did you encounter?
