Design a Mission Badge
Purpose:
The Junior Space Explorers team has asked you to submit designs of possible shapes for their mission badge.
Task:
You have been provided with a 30 cm length of reflective tape to place around the edge of the badge. The tape is 1 cm wide. On the grid paper, outline at least 3 badge shapes. You should use as much of the 30 cm length as possible for each shape.
Procedure:
Use the grid paper, a pencil, and ruler to complete the designs.
Label all measurements.
Hint:
Use what you learned about perimeter.
Don't forget to consider the width of the tape.
Questions:
How did you determine how much tape you used?
Why was the width of the tape important?
Conclusion:
Which of your badge designs would you recommend? Why?
